The story takes place in Chongqing during the late period of the Liberation War. Song Huaizhen (played by Song Chunli) is ordered by the party organization to go to Chongqing to restore the underground organization that is facing paralysis due to betrayal. She uses the convenience of her long-lost son Lin Xiaocheng (played by Sun Xun), who is in the enemy's intelligence agency, to gradually approach the enemy's inner circle. Song Huaizhen holds very traditional views, which often conflict with her modern-minded future daughter-in-law Weilan (played by Tang Yifei), but considering her mission, especially the need to sway Colonel Niu and the overall situation of her son’s uprising, she decides to endure humiliation and bear the burden.
