The story takes place in the year 1669, where the girl Liang Er witnesses the tragic fate of her family and is forced to embark on a journey of escape. Along the way, she encounters a kind-hearted young man, and the two support each other through numerous hardships, forming a deep bond. They promise to meet again one day. Later, her cousin Nalan Rongruo (played by Zhang Binbin) takes Liang Er in and renames her Wei Linlang, but Liang Er loses her memory. The feelings between Rongruo and Liang Er grow deeper, but eventually, Liang Er is forced into the palace, never to see Rongruo again.
