In 1937, amidst the brutality of Japanese imperialism, the ancient capital Nanjing fell, and tens of thousands of soldiers and civilians were cruelly killed by inhumane invaders. Corpses lay everywhere, blood flowed like rivers, and the once prosperous city of Nanjing had turned into a hell on earth. The invaders disregarded international treaties and coveted the safety zones designated by Western countries. In the city center, the majestic St. Madeleine Church stood tall amidst the gunfire and smoke, doing its utmost to shelter those seeking refuge.
