The story takes place during a critical phase of the Anti-Japanese War, where the Wang puppet government betrays the nation, and the people of China suffer immensely, with the fate of the offspring of Yan and Huang hanging by a thread. Ming Jing (Liu Mintao), the chairman of the Ming enterprise in Shanghai, is sincere and secretly supports the Chinese Communist Party. Her brother, Ming Lou (Jin Dong), works as a secret agent for the Military Command and has a mysterious background. Their brother, Ming Tai (Hu Ge), well-read and originally uninterested in politics, unexpectedly gets kidnapped by Military Command official Wang Tianfeng on his way to Hong Kong. With no other choice, Ming Tai adopts an alias and undergoes training, ultimately becoming a secret agent stationed in Shanghai.
