The story takes place in the 1930s on the war-torn land of China, which is nothing but scorched earth. Smoke fills the air and the people suffer. Born in the northwest, Chun Tao (played by Ma Yashu) undergoes significant life changes before marriage; her fiancé, Da Long (played by Cao Weiyu), goes missing after encountering bandits.
