The Jade Emperor decreed that the God of Wealth was punished to go to the human world because he often arrived late for court and fell asleep, tasked with helping the poorest boy, Qiong Er, to become rich. The God of Wealth took it lightly, thinking it would be easy to help a poor person, but upon descending to the mortal realm, he realized he had fallen into a "bottomless pit of poverty." With guidance from the heavenly scriptures, the God of Wealth found Qiong Er, but accidentally disrupted a deal where Qiong Er was helping someone by drinking and signing a contract. The God of Wealth chased after Qiong Er to give him money, only to be robbed by a beggar named Hong Liu.
