In a bustling subway station filled with crowds and noise, a shabby man and his heavy suitcase catch the attention of security personnel. After a chase, the man claims there is a bomb in the suitcase, causing a massive commotion. When the riot police arrive to subdue him, they discover a body curled up inside the suitcase. The arrested man, named Zhang Chao (played by Ning Li), is a well-known lawyer in Jiangtan City. Initially, he confesses to the crime, but soon produces an alibi and changes his statement in court. Consequently, experienced criminal police officer Yan Liang (played by Liao Fan) quickly joins the special investigation team. Before long, journalist Zhang Xiaoqian from the Jiangtan Evening News receives an anonymous letter, with the sender claiming to want to play a Sudoku game related to the case.
