The drama features two female protagonists: Li Nian Nian, who comes from a native Taiwanese family of traditional medicine, facing a career bottleneck and relationship problems, decides to go to the United States to pursue her fiancé; Jo, a computer engineer from San Francisco, who is engaged but feels the urge to escape her current life, decides to return to the unfamiliar Taipei to find the hometown of her father's memories. The two girls meet by chance in Taipei one tipsy night and decide to swap residences for three months, each embarking on a different journey. The two girls choose to leave their hometowns for a strange city—one in pursuit of love and the other escaping from it—each presenting a different version of a double city story. Li Nian Nian, who travels from Taipei to San Francisco, has lived under the wing of her parents but must start anew alone. She finds a job, overcomes the struggles of everyday life, and while she ultimately cannot salvage her relationship with her fiancé, she meets a group of friends who share her trials: the eccentric landlady Mrs. Thomason, who claims to have developed a career in Hollywood; Professor Qian, a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner from Beijing; the outspoken Chinese tenant Wendy; and her new romantic interest, the renowned Asian chef Ryan.
