Zhu Yuanzhang's daughter Yufeng was lost during the early years of war, and Empress Ma was heartbroken over the loss of her daughter. Over the years, she sent people to search for her, but ultimately there was no news. It should be about eighteen years now, and each time she thought of Empress Ma, she felt a deep melancholy, unable to eat or drink. Zhu Yuanzhang suspected that Yufeng might no longer be alive and advised Empress Ma to let go, but she remained hopeful that she would find her beloved daughter. Yufeng had a distinctive birthmark on her right shoulder that resembled a phoenix, which was why the little princess was named Yufeng in the first place. Empress Ma firmly believed that there couldn't be another person in the world with such a birthmark. One day, Hu Weiyong lied to Zhu Yuanzhang, claiming he had obtained news about the princess, but since he had never seen Yufeng, he couldn't confirm if it was the real princess. Therefore, he suggested that Liu Bowen be sent for identification, and if it was the real princess, she would be welcomed back to the court. Since Liu Bowen had seen Princess Yufeng when she was a baby, he was the most suitable for this task among the ministers, so he was ordered to go. Little did he know that countless dangers awaited him on the road, and this time Liu Bowen seemed to have no hope of survival! To ensure Liu Bowen could command troops and successfully bring back Princess Yufeng, Zhu Yuanzhang specifically appointed Liu Bowen as an imperial envoy and bestowed upon him a golden seal inscribed with "As if I were personally present," granting him full authority to act, even to execute first and report later. Thus, Liu Bowen set off on his grand journey.
