High school student Cha Eun-sang (played by Park Shin-hye) is a workaholic who lives a dull life with her single mother, truly a "poor heir." Kim Tan (played by Lee Min-ho) is the heir to Korea's top conglomerate, Empire Group, handsome and from a prestigious background, born with everything. However, he is an illegitimate child, viewed as a thorn by his half-brother, and is "exiled" to study in the United States. To find her sister, Eun-sang comes to America alone, only to discover that her sister's glamorous life is a lie. Just when her dreams shatter, Eun-sang unexpectedly meets Kim Tan.
