Akitsu Masanosuke (voiced by Daisuke Namikawa) has a shy and timid personality that has caused him a lot of hardships in life, leading to countless lost jobs. One day, just after being fired, Masanosuke encounters a mysterious man. The man, who calls himself Yai (voiced by Takahiro Sakurai), wants to hire Masanosuke as his personal bodyguard, and with nothing to do, Masanosuke immediately agrees. Little did he know that this chance encounter would pull him into a kidnapping case, and Yai is actually the leader of the notorious criminal gang known as "Five Leaves." What kind of fate awaits the innocent Masanosuke? Faced with financial difficulties, Masanosuke becomes a part of Five Leaves. Within the gang, he encounters the enigmatic Yai, the beautiful and seductive Aki (voiced by Fuyuka Ooura), the sharp-tongued yet soft-hearted Umezo (voiced by Masaya Takatsuka), and the taciturn Matsukichi (voiced by Yuya Uchida). As he interacts with them, Masanosuke discovers another side to these wandering samurai, whose identities are shrouded in mystery and whose natures are both righteous and wicked.
