"Guarding Liberation West" is a police documentary observational reality show launched by Bilibili. The show includes: "Guarding Liberation West Season 1" and "Guarding Liberation West Season 2." This program focuses on the police officers from the Pozi Street Police Station in Changsha, Hunan Province, deeply showcasing the daily work of city police in the core business district of a metropolis. The program began airing on September 14, 2019, every Saturday at 20:00 on Bilibili. Co-produced by Bilibili and China Media Group Tianze Media Co., Ltd., "Guarding Liberation West" is an observational reality show that uses a documentary filming style to deeply present the daily work of city police in the core business district of a metropolis. The show consists of 10 episodes, depicting events such as police patrols, multi-police coordination, suspect interrogations, and major case involvement, thereby displaying the law, reason, emotions, and events in complex areas of law enforcement, shaping the image of a responsible, rational, and humane people’s police, while also educating viewers on related safety and legal knowledge through various case stories. In February 2019, the Changsha Public Security Bureau began planning this documentary police program in collaboration with China Media Group Tianze Media Co., Ltd. and the Changsha TV Political and Legal Channel. After more than three months of discussions and creative developments, both parties reached an agreement on the program format, core content, production methods, and broadcasting platform. Liberation West is the most vibrant area in Changsha and even the whole of Hunan, with a high and unstable flow of population. Within a 1.21 square kilometer area, there are 7 large shopping centers including the China Gold Center, nearly 2,500 shops of varying sizes, 30 bars and clubs, and 1,300 hotels and guesthouses. Every day, various civil disputes, public security issues, and criminal cases arise in this area, waiting for police resolution and investigation. Therefore, the purpose of producing this program is to portray a police image that is emotional, dignified, and story-rich, paying tribute to those "most loveable people" who guard the peace of the people.
