Dr. Ishikawa Gen (played by Ishigaki Ken), who returned triumphantly from Kansas, USA, is hired at Innocent Tower Hospital. However, what greets him is not the typical scene of doctors saving lives, but rather a chaotic situation where the on-duty doctor is absent and patients are left unattended. What he cannot tolerate the most is the head surgeon of Innocent Tower, Sima Jotaro (played by Oda Yuji), who has no sense of responsibility to fully treat patients. Sima refuses to continue participating in rescue efforts after work, yet is willing to save the son of a politician for a tangible reward; he has ambiguous relationships with medical equipment salespeople, exchanging benefits. What angers Ishikawa the most is that Sima seems to "treat patients' lives as worthless," giving up on treatment even when there is a glimmer of hope for survival. Although Sima is highly skilled and praised by the hospital's higher-ups, these two doctors with completely different philosophies continuously clash, revealing various dark secrets hidden beneath the guise of angelic doctors...
