In the season of falling leaves, lawyer Kenji Sakuragi (played by Hiroshi Abe) is walking to Ryoyama High School. He encounters Yusuke Yajima (played by Tomohisa Yamashita), who is fighting with a thug, and Naomi Mizuno (played by Masami Nagasawa), who rips up her failed test paper. Both are third-year students at Ryoyama High School, which has become a laughing stock and a forgotten rundown school due to poor management and low college admission rates. Kenji Sakuragi's visit is to handle the school's bankruptcy application. However, he is not content with just wrapping things up quickly; a former member of a bike gang, he wants to accomplish something that will shock all of Japan. A passionate idea takes root in his mind: to lead the foolish students of Ryoyama High School to enroll in Japan's top university—The University of Tokyo. Thus, Kenji Sakuragi begins this seemingly impossible teaching task together with English teacher Mako Iino (played by Kyoko Hasegawa).
