This work is a fully realized new television adaptation based on the manga series that concluded in 2013 with a total of 42 volumes. Set in modern 2022, the frauds that occur in real Japan will be devoured by the black heron. A highlight of the series is the direct confrontation between the protagonist, Kurozaki, and the family's greatest enemy, which was not depicted in the previous television series that aired before the original work was completed. Kurozaki, played by Hirano, lost his family due to an incident involving his father being defrauded at the age of 15, and he is determined to take revenge on the fraudsters. Kurozaki’s goal is to deceive and rob money from those professional con artists, “White Heron,” just like the one who framed his father. Based on past experiences, he believes that the law will not protect people, and driven by anger, he is resolute in one day confronting the con artist Mikimoto, who deceived his father, and has resolved to "devour all the white herons in this world." Hirano, portraying the protagonist Kurozaki Takashiro, is making his lead debut in a TBS drama. This marks Hirano's return to TBS after a four-year hiatus since his performance in the 2018 Tuesday night drama "Hana Hanasuki: Hana Otoko Next Season." Hirano has previously played roles that attracted female audiences, such as in "Hana Hanasuki" and the film series "Kaguya-sama: Love Is War" (2019, 2021). However, in this work, his atmosphere has completely changed as he explores a new realm as "the con artist tricking the tricksters, Black Heron." How Hirano expresses the struggle and pain of his poignant past, portraying Black Heron as a lonely dark hero facing the fraudsters, is something to look forward to. Additionally, Kurozaki's use of disguises as he engages in fraud is another focal point of this work.
