Enduring a cruel fate, the girl Lune Balot (voiced by Megumi Hayashibara) is engaged in a brutal battle against a formidable enemy, Boyd (voiced by Benyoshi Isobe), with a stark power disparity. In a moment of crisis, the crime investigation officer Dr. UvKuk (voiced by Tomohito Yashima), known as a universal weapon, appears and saves the dying Balot. When Balot awakens again, she finds herself in the legendary birthplace of forbidden science— the "Paradise" laboratory, where she once again witnesses many strange inventions and learns about the past of "Paradise" and the three doctors. After some investigation, she finally learns that the memories of Scher (voiced by Kazuhisa Nakai) are hidden in a chip in the Casino. To trace Scher's past, Balot disguises herself as a gambler and enters the dangerous casino…This film is based on the science fiction novel by Tow Ubukata and is the second part of the "Ghost in the Shell" trilogy (the other two parts are "Compression" and "Pneuma").
