In early 20th century China, people suffered from poor living conditions. Jin Yurun, a descendant of a declining aristocracy, is determined to become a doctor who saves lives and helps others with her own hands. The two go from acquaintances to friends and then to lovers, working hard to explore ways to make the world better.
