In 1938, by the banks of the Bailong Lake in Huizhou County, Southern Anhui. Outside the city, gunfire roared, and the entire city was in panic. Japanese soldiers were about to enter the city. However, the renowned local merchant, Old Master Zeng, was holding a grand celebration at his residence, brightly lit and hosting performances to celebrate his birthday. The gate of Shuangfeng Tower was wide open, allowing neighbors, regardless of status, to join in and feast while enjoying the performances. Young Master Zeng Yuxue had a secret love for Jis, the daughter of the opera troupe leader — the leading actress of the Huangmei opera, Ji Su.
