The story takes place in Shaanxi Province, China, during the sixth year of the Republic of China (1927 AD). The death row inmate Han Maochen's earth-shattering and soul-stirring finale of the Qin Opera unveils a life story that spans seventy years across three generations of complex entanglements. An officer passing by, enraged by this finale, storms the execution ground and rescues Han Maochen from under the blade of the executioner; the bride, transformed from her previous self, encounters a legendary romance due to this finale; the pure and kind-hearted Shuangchi, disregarding the strict feudal etiquette, throws herself into the arms of the actor; the son of unclear origins, driven by this finale, attacks his father with a knife, risking everything; and the theater owner sacrifices family and business to endure the hardships of life for this finale. The resentful Han Zisheng, who despises Qin Opera, finds himself unable to escape its legacy, walking the streets of Xi'an like his father, deeply marked by the emotional debts left by him…In the second issue of 1996 "Film Review" reporting on the start of "The Great Qin Aria":This magazine reports that on the eve of the New Year, the 28-episode TV series "The Great Qin Aria" jointly filmed by the Beijing Television Art Center and Shaanxi Television Station officially began shooting at the Dao Yu Tai Film Base in Baoji County, Shaanxi Province. The series intentionally depicts the intertwined life experiences of people, the ancient city, and Qin Opera across the 70 years from the early Republic of China to the 1980s, showcasing the historical evolution of Shaanxi's national culture, its rise, decline, glory, survival, and rejuvenation. The scriptwriter is Wang Zhen, the director is Yu Genggeng, music by Zhao Jiping, and art by Lu Guangcai.On January 11, 1997, "People's Daily" reported on the completion of "The Great Qin Aria":The 33-episode long TV series "The Great Qin Aria," jointly filmed by the Beijing Television Art Center and Shaanxi Television Station, has recently finished production. The series explores the decades of trials and tribulations faced by the Qin opera artist Han Maochen and his family, unearthing the rich dramatic "story mine" within the simple and honest people of the West. Through the unique narrative perspective of the Qin opera's poignant finale, it showcases the deep-rooted connections among the Qin people, the ancient city, and the Qin Opera. The entire series boasts a high cultural quality, captivating storylines, and visual appeal. The script is by Wang Zhen, directed by Yu Genggeng, starring Zhu Zhibo and Zhu Lin. The series will be broadcast soon on Beijing Television Station.
