Architect Qi Runwu returned to Shanghai from Beijing with a prestigious architectural design award. Excited, she burst through the door only to be stunned: her husband, Wang Zili, was in bed with their maid. Qi Runwu, a perfectionist, could not tolerate such humiliation and stormed out. Wang Zili, realizing his mistake, chased after her to apologize. However, on the busy street, Qi Runwu not only refused to listen but also scolded him angrily. In the heat of the moment, Wang Zili lost his composure and slapped her, leaving both of them shocked. As she regained her senses, Qi Runwu sadly realized that what happened to others had now happened to her—divorce!
Having committed an irretrievable mistake, Wang Zili deeply regretted it. To salvage their crumbling marriage, he sent office director Li Kailing to persuade Qi Runwu. Yet, unforeseen circumstances struck Li Kailing as well. She was five years older than her husband, Liu Xiangdong, who, after losing his job, was employed by a casino owner, Yami, and became enamored with her. Li Kailing never thought her beloved curly-haired husband would ask for a divorce! Frantic, she rushed to find Liu Xiangdong at the casino, only to be harshly pushed out by him. In the scuffle, Li Kailing fell down the stairs and was hospitalized. With both women having endured the pain inflicted by men, Li Kailing and Qi Runwu grew closer, becoming confidantes. Qi Runwu was determined to take revenge on men, starting with Wang Zili.
The vibrant young woman Ai Yue arrived from Beijing, having been hurt by men herself, and serendipitously met Qi Runwu. She bore the same resentment towards men and quickly bonded with Qi Runwu and Li Kailing, willingly agreeing to serve as a "honey trap" to take revenge on Wang Zili. Following Qi Runwu's plan, Ai Yue would first seduce Wang Zili, and once he was hooked, she would ruin him financially and tarnish his reputation, allowing him to taste the bitterness of betrayal.
With three injured women joining forces, they would certainly put on a remarkable show. To get closer to Wang Zili, Ai Yue compromised her principles to attend a recruitment fair for Tongbei Real Estate, meeting Wang Zili’s assistant, Tan Xilin. Ambitious, Tan Xilin had long plotted to take Wang Zili’s position as general manager. Discovering Ai Yue's intentions, he planned to win her over emotionally and form an alliance to trap Wang Zili. Wang Zili was truly in a perilous situation!
Meanwhile, Qi Runwu’s old classmate, Wu Wei, came to Shanghai to expand his real estate business. Wu Wei and Qi Runwu had been a couple in college. Upon learning that Qi Runwu and Wang Zili had separated and were heading for divorce, Wu Wei sincerely expressed his desire to rekindle their romance, providing comfort to Qi Runwu in her sorrow. Li Kailing fervently played matchmaker for Qi Runwu and Wu Wei, inadvertently offending her boss, Wang Zili. Li Kailing was laid off, losing her job just as her son, Liu Fan, was set to study abroad at Harvard, plunging her into economic difficulties. Sympathetic to Li Kailing's situation, Wu Wei hired her as office director at his company, which she greatly appreciated.
Clever Ai Yue quickly excelled in real estate sales and earned Wang Zili's admiration. Youthful and passionate, Ai Yue captivated Wang Zili, who fell deeply in love with her. However, while seeking revenge, Ai Yue discovered that Wang Zili was an honest and decisive man, leaving her conflicted. Just as Wang Zili was about to finalize his divorce with Qi Runwu and declare his love for Ai Yue, Tan Xilin schemed behind the scenes, falsely accusing Wang Zili of accepting bribes and dereliction of duty, leading to his arrest.
Indeed, a day of marriage carries a hundred days of grace; Qi Runwu, once filled with resentment towards Wang Zili, felt compelled to rescue him upon learning of the false accusations. To prevent Wang Zili from getting out of jail, Tan Xilin exerted pressure on Bai Sangai, the company’s cashier, to accuse Wang Zili of having raped her. Despite being manipulated due to her lack of legal knowledge, Bai Sangai woke up to her remorse after Qi Runwu's persuasion and resolutely went to withdraw her complaint. The bribery and dereliction trial against Wang Zili commenced, with Tan Xilin attempting to frame him with false testimony. In a fierce verbal battle, Ai Yue took the stand, unveiling Tan Xilin's conspiracy and restoring Wang Zili's innocence. He was acquitted, while Tan Xilin ended up arrested for the false accusations.
After his release, Wang Zili and Ai Yue's passion ignited as they began living together. At this time, Wang Zili had lost his job and hit rock bottom in his career. Ai Yue encouraged him to recharge and make a comeback. Simultaneously, not only did Wang Zili find solace in Ai Yue, but he also received support from Wu Wei and Qi Runwu. Wu Wei invited him to become the manager of his company, working together on the Phoenix Road overpass, which was designed by Qi Runwu.
Wu Wei initially came to Shanghai to pursue his youthful dreams, but in his interactions with Qi Runwu, he realized their personalities clashed too much; instead, he found himself attracted to Li Kailing. Her kindness, thoughtfulness, and attentiveness were the qualities Wu Wei dreamed of in a partner. He assisted Li Kailing in sending her son abroad and even bought a house, proposing to her. Unexpectantly emotional, an abandoned Li Kailing agreed through tears. However, just as they were preparing to marry, Liu Xiangdong had a violent argument with Yami, fatally pushing her down the stairs. Always loving her curly-haired husband, Li Kailing took the blame, serving his prison sentence. Under the persuasion of Wu Wei and Qi Runwu, Liu Xiangdong, who had always been submissive, finally acted like a man—he turned himself in to exchange his freedom for Li Kailing's.
After a nightmare passed, throughout the entire ordeal, Wu Wei discerned that Li Kailing still harbored feelings for Liu Xiangdong, leading him to decide to support their reunion.
Good things often experience hardships. Just as Wang Zili and Ai Yue were preparing to marry, Qi Runwu had an accident on a construction site and got injured. Wang Zili took her to the hospital and cared for her tenderly. Tragically, their daughter, Wang Yina, faced misfortune when her boyfriend, Luo Xi, died, and in her despair, discovered she was pregnant. Although Qi Runwu's leg had not healed, she insisted on being discharged to care for her daughter. Originally planning to abort, Wang Yina had a change of heart at the hospital and decided to keep the child. Tearfully, Qi Runwu agreed to her daughter’s decision. The mother-daughter pair, facing adversity together, leaned on each other for support. Wang Zili found it difficult to let go of his feelings for them, returning home to care for the two women. Even though Ai Yue was hurt, for Wang Zili’s sake, she chose to quietly leave Shanghai and return to Beijing.
Wang Zili, heartbroken over losing Ai Yue, worked hard to conceal his emotions in front of Qi Runwu and Wang Yina. Both Wu Wei and Li Kailing encouraged Wang Zili to reconcile with Qi Runwu, which he agreed to. However, after experiencing repeated emotional trials, Qi Runwu came to understand life and love, as well as herself. She no longer harbored resentment or hatred and decided to sell the house, preparing to start anew. On the day of the sale, Wang Zili happened to arrive at the home that once belonged to them. Facing the disarray, this divorced couple, having weathered numerous storms, was filled with nostalgia…
