The luxurious life of pet rat Roddy is turned upside down by a street rat named Sid, who climbs up from the sewer. The rogue Sid even sends Roddy down into the sewer. Having never experienced life’s challenges, Roddy steps into a nightmare where his stylish clothing and shiny shoes are out of place in the filthy sewer city. Fortunately, he meets Rita, an independent, brave, smart, and tough new breed of rat, and more importantly, she is a beautiful girl. Rita agrees to help Roddy find his way home, but the journey proves to be challenging. Living in the underground world is a crazy toad named Toad, who has delusions of exterminating all rats and is relentlessly pursuing Rita and Roddy. After enduring many hardships, they finally return to Roddy's home. However, to Rita, Roddy's home, while comfortable, feels like a canary's cage. What will Roddy do, who has already fallen for Rita? Will he give up his luxurious life to wander the world with the girl he loves?
