The film is adapted from the first part of Sergey Lukyanenko's trilogy, "Night Watch." The Light Army and the Dark Army signed a millennium-long truce. A thousand years later, the leaders of the two armies, Gesser (Vladimir Menshov) and Zaulon (Valeri Zolotukhin), live in present-day Moscow. The Night Watch tracks the dark otherworldly forces to maintain the balance between good and evil; while the Day Watch monitors the activities of the light forces, and any imbalance in the ratio of good and evil can lead to war, revolution, destruction, or even global catastrophe. Rookie Night Watchman Anton Gorodetsky (Konstantin Khabenskiy) is tasked with monitoring the vampire Koschei (Aleksey Chadov). A boy named Egor appears, possessing the power to disrupt the balance between the two sides, and whoever gains him will achieve ultimate victory. The battle between humans and demons begins in the quest for ultimate power, and from here, the world starts to collapse… Will Egor walk towards the light or towards the darkness?
