The new series "City On Fire," developed by "Gossip Girl" creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage for Apple TV, is set to premiere on May 12. The eight-episode series will release three episodes during its premiere week, followed by one episode every Friday, concluding on June 16. This is the first project following Josh and Stephanie's earlier exclusive collaboration agreement with the streaming service. Similar to "Gossip Girl," the story is also adapted from a novel of the same name, written by Garth Risk Hallberg. The novel tells the story of a young girl, "Samantha Cicciaro," who is shot in Central Park, New York, on July 4, 2003, while everyone is watching fireworks, leaving no witnesses and minimal physical evidence. Before the incident, she was watching her friend's band perform at her favorite nightclub and stepped out to meet a friend but never returned. As the police investigation deepens, everyone is shocked to discover that she is not only connected to the downtown music scene but also closely linked to a wealthy real estate family on the Upper East Side. Jemima Kirke, who played "Hope" in "Sex Education," stars as "Regan," the daughter of a Manhattan real estate tycoon who is striving for success on her own. Ashley Zukerman, known for "Succession," portrays her husband "Keith," whose charm helps him get back on his feet after a failure. Nico Tortorella, from "Younger," plays "William," a talented yet self-destructive artist, while Xavier Clyde portrays his boyfriend "Mercer," who comes from rural Georgia and writes an outstanding novel, embracing his true self. Max Milner, who appeared in "Bad Behavior," plays "Nicky Chaos," a charismatic activist fighting against elitism alongside a group of friends, and Alexandra Doke, who had a brief role as "Cindy" in the sixteenth season of "Grey's Anatomy," plays "Sewer Girl," a key member of this team. Omid Abtahi, known for "The Mandalorian," plays "Ali Parsa," the detective investigating Samantha's murder, while Kathleen Munroe from "Harbor" plays his partner "PJ McFadden." John Cameron Mitchell, who portrayed "Joe Exotic" in "Joe vs. Carol," plays "Amory," an influential and powerful executive in Manhattan, known for being ruthless yet equally charming.
