Aidan Turner ("The Hobbit", "Poldark") is set to portray the great painter & scientist Leonardo da Vinci. He will star in the new series "Leonardo" (working title, not yet officially named), which focuses on the life and works of Leonardo da Vinci during the Italian Renaissance. This is an English-language series, with Frank Spotnitz ("The X-Files") as executive producer, Steve Thompson ("Sherlock") as the writer, and Daniel Percival ("The Man in the High Castle") directing. Lux Vide and Big Light Productions are among the producers, with involvement from Italy's national broadcaster (RAI). It will consist of 8 episodes, starting production this year.
