She was once a popular ballet dancer in Russia, and the glory of the spotlight spilled over into her life. Her husband, Michael Mason (played by Christian Slater), is a gentle American who runs an oil refinery in Russia, and their daughter Nina (played by Marianna Khalifman) is beautiful and lovely, inheriting all of her parents' virtues. After this, misfortune shadows the mother and daughter who have fallen from grace. Maya faces drug charges and is imprisoned; while Nina, who sought refuge in America, is soon kidnapped and goes missing. Fate may be cruel, but the daughter becomes Maya's greatest motivation to survive. Once a dignified and holy swan, she spreads her wings and soars above the filthy mire…
