In a future world where the boundaries between fantasy and reality are blurred, technology has advanced far beyond its time. The queen of the gaming world, Allegra Geller (played by Jennifer Jason Leigh), is not only beautiful and sexy but also a designer of cutting-edge games. Her virtual reality system "X-Track" can directly interfere with players' nervous systems. At a gameplay convention, gamers gather to experience Allegra's latest masterpiece. However, a group of fanatics attempts to assassinate Allegra, and in a critical moment, she is rescued by guard Ted Pikul (played by Jude Law). To escape the pursuit, the two enter the alternate dimension of "X-Track," but everything is beginning to become increasingly illusory. This sci-fi thriller film, "eXistenZ," which contains numerous social issues, is directed by David Cronenberg, one of the most controversial and successful directors in international cinema. The film was nominated for the Golden Bear at the 49th Berlin International Film Festival in 1999, and director David Cronenberg received the Silver Bear for Outstanding Artistic Achievement that year, along with a nomination for Best Science Fiction Film at the 26th Saturn Awards in 2000.
