Based on the novel of the same name by Sarah Waters. A gentle offering of a drop of rose led 18-year-old town girl Nan (played by Rachael Stirling) into a life-altering fate... While watching a variety show, Nan encounters a male performer playing a female role, Kitty (played by Keeley Hawes). Nan is deeply captivated by Kitty's dazzling image and performance, and through an introduction, she joyfully becomes Kitty's devoted follower. Kitty aims to make a name for herself on the bigger stage in London, and Nan naturally follows without hesitation.
