The story follows Laura Simmonds and her consular colleague and friend Alba Ortiz in Barcelona as they fight to protect British nationals in distress in the Catalonia region. Laura and Alba's roles blend those of lawyers, advisors, and police, and their diplomatic skills are put to the test in resolving various predicaments. 　　The series begins with the mysterious death of a young British man who previously worked as a bartender near the notorious docks of Barcelona.
