The new series "Monsieur Spade," created by Scott Frank, the mastermind behind "The Queen's Gambit," and Tom Fontana, the producer of "Oz," features Frank directing all episodes. The series will primarily be in French and is set to be filmed in France. The lead character is detective Sam Spade from "The Maltese Falcon," played by Clive Owen. In this story, Spade lives a quiet retirement in the small town of Beauzole in southern France. It is 1963, just after the Algerian War, but Spade’s peaceful life will soon come to an end.
