On the banks of the Sumida River in Asakusa, Tokyo, lies the inconspicuous Okawabata Detective Agency nestled among old buildings. The agency consists of three members: the kind-hearted yet model-obsessed head, Ippei Okawabata (played by Renshi Ishibashi), the big-busted but dim-witted receptionist, Koe (played by Maya Koizumi), and the investigator, Muraki (played by Ryo Kase), who often naps on the sofa when there are no cases. Muraki frequently experiences nightmarish dreams with prophetic elements, and clients who arrive often have some connection to his dreams. In these economically challenging times, the Okawabata Detective Agency’s services cover a wide range, occasionally even taking on roles akin to a handy services provider. Their clientele comes from various walks of life, including gang leaders, comedic actors, a bakery uncle, and otaku, seeking everything from delicious wonton noodles from post-war times to the mysterious snow woman from twenty years ago, which can be quite a puzzle. Throughout this process, Muraki and the team come to understand the touching and sometimes bittersweet stories of others...
