During the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, the beautiful and dignified girl Xia Zhiwei (played by Hai Lu) and her maid Jin Suo (played by Sun Yaoqi) come to the capital from the Daming Lake in Jinan. They are beaten for intercepting the sedan chair of Lord Liang from the House of Lords in the streets.
