One year after the “Tokyo Confrontation,” Britannian youth Lelouch is living an ordinary student life in Area 11 (formerly Japan). However, during an outing with his brother Rollo, they encounter remnants of the Black Knights. After forming a contract with the girl C.C. once again, Lelouch's long-buried memories come to the forefront. As the prince of the Empire, Lelouch uses GEASS, the power that commands absolute obedience, to lead the Black Knights in declaring war on the Empire in order to establish a world of equality for everyone and to create a happy world for his sister Nunnally. He takes on the masked alias ZERO, but was defeated by his friend Suzaku in the “Tokyo Confrontation” a year ago and had his memories erased by the Empire's Emperor. Now, with his memories restored, Lelouch must face not only the Empire's formidable military power but also his false brother Rollo, his missing sister Nunnally, the ambiguous Chinese Federation, and the faction divisions within the Black Knights. Faced with internal and external troubles, Lelouch embarks on the cursed path of the power of GEASS—the lonely road of a king.
