Following the successful reception and acclaim of "The White House Farm Murders" and "Death on the Danube," ITV has commissioned the next true crime series titled "The Yorkshire Ripper" (working title). The script is written by George Kay, known for "Killing Eve" and "The Trial: England," with direction from the director of "The White House Farm Murders." The series consists of six episodes and is based on Michael Bilton's book "Wicked Beyond Belief: The Hunt for the Yorkshire Ripper." It will tell the story of one of the most notorious and shocking serial killer cases in the world, the hunt for Peter Sutcliffe, known as "The Yorkshire Ripper." From October 1975 to January 1981, the police conducted the largest manhunt in British criminal history. The search for Sutcliffe lasted five years, involving over a thousand officers and fundamentally changing the way British policing operated. The series will not only focus on police work but will also spotlight the victims and their families, as well as those who were attacked but not believed, whose lives were permanently altered. Writer George Kay stated, "This is not a story about The Yorkshire Ripper, but rather a story of how Yorkshire was torn apart."
