The story is set in the 1980s, where a fourth-grade boy named Xiao Budian is the youngest son of a leather shoe store in the Zhonghua Shopping Mall. One day, a mysterious magician arrives on the bridge at Ximending in the mall; he possesses a treasure bowl, a zebra that emits colorful lights, and can perform many magical tricks. Xiao Budian admires the magician and buys magic props to practice every day. Meanwhile, more and more young boys and girls in the mall encounter this mysterious magician; those who meet him not only witness dazzling magic but also receive miraculous powers that can change their lives... "The Magician on the Bridge" is adapted from the eponymous novel by internationally acclaimed author Wu Ming-yi. It took five years and 200 million TWD (approximately 46 million RMB) to produce, with the adaptation and direction by Yang Ya-zhe, who has won the Golden Bell Award (Taiwan's highest television award) for Best Director and the Golden Horse Award for Best Feature Film. The show will premiere simultaneously on Taiwan's PTS and myVideo every Saturday night at 9 PM starting February 20, with two episodes released weekly, and the latest episodes available on Netflix Taiwan every Saturday night at 10 PM and 11 PM.
