In 1942, the Japanese invaders launched a massive sweep in my Ji Zhong Plain area on May 1st, implementing a policy of "kill all, burn all, loot all," resulting in a bloodbath everywhere. The anti-Japanese forces in Ji Zhong Plain and the Cangzhou area suffered severe damage, with the enemy becoming more cunning and brutal than ever before. The Behind Enemy Lines Work Team was established under the instruction of higher-ups, led by Wei Qiang, a core member of the guerrilla team who had just come down from the Taihang Mountains. At this moment, Ji Zhong Plain was a land of resentment, a weeping plain; how to identify friend and foe, and integrate forces was the primary issue faced by the Work Team. The main opponent of the Work Team was the traitorous warlord Liu Kuisheng, who had risen to power by deducing that the county battalion once paused at a fortified household based on the urine traces left on the walls. This family was tragically exterminated, illustrating the brutality of the struggle. Passing through the blockade line with guns was a test, rescuing the captured district committee member Wang Xia was also a test, obtaining medicines and medical equipment was a test, and transporting Eighth Route Army wounded through enemy-occupied areas was even more of a test... The Work Team members continuously gathered—"living map" Zhao Qingtian, lone ranger Liu Taisheng, “young master” Xin Fengming, versatile Jia Zheng, and itinerant Li Dongshan gradually came to the scene, successfully completing every task and catching the attention of Matsutian, who initially did not regard the struggles of Chinese farmers as serious. "Puppy," "Hou Ba Pi," and Liu Kuisheng, these three traitorous clowns who likened themselves to Liu Bei, Guan Yu, and Zhang Fei, also began to oppose the Work Team with their own scheming during the elaborate deception process. The Work Team won over the neutral forces, represented by village head Cai, and fought against the local tyrant Zhou Danna, but they also buried a time bomb nearby—district committee member Ma Ming betrayed and defected to the enemy but, due to an unexpected twist, was not exposed and instead was rescued by the Work Team, becoming a hidden danger. Wei Qiang's leadership authority gradually established within the Work Team, and his revolutionary friendship with Wang Xia grew stronger by the day. Together, they proactively engaged in struggles against tree cutting and grain collection, where Wei Qiang’s lead Work Team not only confronted the enemy militarily but also effectively engaged in grassroots work. At this moment, Liu Kuisheng, who had been enduring silently, seized the opportunity and presented Matsutian, who was troubled by the Work Team, with a clever scheme to deal with them—establishing a "Night Raid Team" to counter guerrilla tactics with mobility and ambush. Matsutian eagerly accepted and appointed Liu Kuisheng as the commander of the Night Raid Team. Liu Kuisheng secretly gathered local bandits and scoundrels and his own confidants, forcibly training them in a concealed small village for various disguise, ambush, and sniping exercises, transforming them into killers disguised as local farmers, fierce and ruthless. The Night Raid Team began to show its prowess, setting a trap with a heavy machine gun, and at the beginning of the confrontation, the Work Team found themselves in a dangerous situation. Meanwhile, the Night Raid Team started masquerading as Work Team members, using a ploy to gain the trust of the local populace, repeatedly deceiving them, which caused significant losses to the villagers and pushed the Work Team's efforts into a low point. Faced with setbacks, Wei Qiang relied on the masses, cleverly utilized the intelligence obtained, and incited the enemy to turn on each other, ultimately dismantling Liu Kuisheng's Night Raid Team with Major Sakamoto’s hand. Liu Kuisheng, unwilling to accept defeat, reorganized the Night Raid Team and arranged for "Puppy" to be captured to contact Ma Ming. At the same time, the Work Team also sent Li Dongshan to infiltrate the Night Raid Team as a red undercover agent. In the enemy camp, there was both enemy and ally, complicating the struggle even further. Amidst such harsh conditions, the Work Team managed to seduce the soul figure of the puppet army, Liang Bang, and attacked and destroyed the Japanese military airport, while the deep family feud between Wei Qiang and Liang Bang was dissolved in the face of national righteousness. Ma Ming's betrayal led to the sacrifice of Work Team member Liu Taisheng; to eliminate the traitor, the Work Team first stealthily attacked Cangzhou City, then infiltrated Tianjin, executed the traitor Ma Ming, and nearly assassinated Japanese commander Okamura Ningji, making him truly realize the strength of the Work Team. Okamura hurriedly adjusted his strategy and recalled the troops rushing towards the Taihang Mountains. This effort to purge traitors had a remarkable impact on the entire Northern China war situation. With the anti-Japanese war showing great prospects, higher-ups required the Work Team to strive for a large-scale reformation of the puppet army. Previously, capturing the watchtower was done with explosives; now, it required policies and winning hearts. The Work Team repeatedly employed clever tactics, gaining the most reputable puppet army leader Tian Guang, then systematically taking over a series of watchtowers. They then carried out a counter-agent scheme, causing the Night Raid Team to eliminate those puppet soldiers unwilling to turn to the right path as if they had already returned to the righteous side, one by one. In a fit of fury, Liu Kuisheng unexpectedly seized a lead and hunted down the political commissar Yang Zizeng sent to assign tasks to the Work Team. In front of the enemy's trap, the Work Team could not rescue their beloved leader. The Japanese invaders had become cornered beasts and were still taking risks, while those traitorous puppet soldiers, unable to face their ancestors, had Liu Kuisheng rally his only trusted Li Dongshan to exploit the Japanese military's secret armory and make a comeback. Seizing the opportunity, the Work Team surrounded the Night Raid Team in a graveyard, and Wang Xia shot and killed the tyrannical Liu Kuisheng. As the War of Resistance approached its final phase, the enemy grew even more brutal, making the destruction of the enemy's Northern China armory inevitable. The Work Team members, driven by a determination to die, stormed the enemy's armory, and just as Wei Qiang was about to blow up the enemy's last stronghold, Liang Bang drove a truck full of explosives into the enemy's cave. The images of his mother and younger brother, who were killed by the Japanese devils and traitors, flashed before Liang Bang’s eyes; his righteous fury for his country and family propelled him to pull the fuse, shaking the ground and ending Matsutian and the Japanese soldiers' shameful lives. The Work Team led by Wei Qiang completed its historical mission, and its core members would head to new battlefields. This beautiful plain would once again become a new home for the Chinese people.
