"The Anti-bandit Campaign in Southwest China" is adapted from the true story of Cheng Lianzhen, the beautiful female bandit leader of the Bouyei ethnic group in Guizhou, who was granted amnesty by Mao Zedong. This drama tells the story of the bandits in southeastern Guizhou who still ruled the mountains and harmed the people after the liberation of the country in 1950, led by a female bandit named Zheng Yaomei, who attacked the newly established people's government and killed innocent villagers.
