This drama is adapted from the novella "The Nine Righteous Ones" on Douban Read, written by Li Bojian. The story revolves around the renowned "Mist and Rain Embroidery Building": the young girl Lin Rulan (played by Hu Yixuan) defies the objections of her close friend Meng Wan (played by Wu Qian) and takes the owner of the embroidery building, Wu Lian (played by Qiao Zhenyu), to court, wagering her own reputation. However, she finds herself isolated and without support as her appeals fall on deaf ears. Ultimately, she takes her own life to prove her innocence.
