Mai Taniyama (voiced by Kaori Nazuka) is a first-year high school girl with precognitive and empathic abilities. By chance, she meets the handsome and rather narcissistic Shibuya Ichiya (voiced by Yuki Tai), who turns out to be a professional spirit hunter and the director of an agency that investigates paranormal events. He has an assistant named Lin Xingxu. There are rumors at Mai’s school that the old school building is cursed by spirits. Shibuya Ichiya is commissioned by the principal to investigate the situation. Also called in are the shrine maiden Ayako Matsuzaki, monk Nariyuki Takigawa, exorcist John Brown, and medium Masako Hara. As the team begins their investigation, various incidents occur. What kind of force is at work? After the events are resolved, Shibuya Ichiya invites Mai to work at his Shibuya Psychological Research Institute (SPR). SPR accepts various commissions and investigates all kinds of paranormal events. Mai and Shibuya’s team not only use their supernatural abilities to solve problems but also explain them using modern science.
