In the prequel "Genesis Angel," the story is set in the year 0011 of the Genesis era, where humanity on Earth has lost two-thirds of its population due to a cataclysmic event 11 years ago. The melting Antarctic ice has revived the "Fallen Winged Clan" Atlantis, which was believed to have been extinct 12,000 years ago. They send bio-mechanical weapons known as “Mythical Beasts” into human cities to capture human bio-energy called "Purana." Determined to fight back, humans excavate three combined fighter machines, the "Vector Machines," from underwater ruins—legendary weapons that forced the Fallen Winged Clan into extinction 12,000 years ago. This TV anime, which aired in 2005, will once again unfold its new legend in January 2012, continuing the story from 12,000 years ago. In the new story, the male protagonist is confirmed to be Amata, characterized as someone who appears weak and easily shaken but becomes stronger than others when it comes to protecting what he cares about. Amata will be voiced by Yuuki Kaji, who has recently taken on leading roles in several works, marking another breakthrough for him after "Guilty Crown." The two female leads have also been confirmed as Mikono and Jessica, voiced by Ai Kayano and Kana Hanazawa, respectively. This trio has previously starred together in "Guilty Crown," and their reunion in "Genesis Angel EVOL" promises no shortage of chemistry.
