Frontier Works recently announced the latest information about the OVA version of "The Tale of the Abyss." The OVA consists of 3 volumes, available in both BD and DVD versions, with a release date of June 5, 2009. Additionally, the release dates for the 2nd and 3rd volumes have yet to be announced. The Tale of the Abyss is an adult (erotic) game released by Leaf for the PC platform in 2002, which was adapted into a TV anime in April 2006, and a PS2 version was released in October the same year. Subsequently, manga and Drama CDs were also released, making it a successful cross-media work. The TV version consists of 26 episodes, with excellent animation that accurately depicts the vast world and storyline of the original game, and the 3DCG battle scenes are also captivating, achieving very high completion and receiving praise from fans. The TV version is set to release a BD BOX on January 23, 2009, priced at 52,500 yen. The first volume of the OVA tells the story of Tusk who discovers a baby. He names the baby Vermeer and entrusts it to Ulder for care. As Ulder imparts love to the baby like a mother, Carla experiences complex emotions. The OVA is produced by Caos Project, which has previously produced animations such as "The Witch of Morning Mist" and "ToHeart2." The director and character design is by Kenichiro Katsura, who has previously participated in character design for animations such as "Macross 7" and "ToHeart2." This is his first time serving as a director. The script is written by Takamitsu Kono, who has previously contributed to the scripts of "Toheart2 AD" and "Bubbles Soda."
