The high development of industrial civilization ultimately leads to disaster, as a 7-day war of extermination by the insect species destroys human civilization. A thousand years later, the problems left over from industrial civilization continue to plague this planet. Toxic plants form the daunting "Corrupt Sea" forest, which steadily spreads over time, encroaching on the surrounding world. Next to a forest of the Corrupt Sea lives a group of humans who can ride the wind. The female protagonist, Nausicaä, and her people rely on the power of the sea breeze to fend off the invasion of toxic spores, living a peaceful and harmonious life. Until one day, war reaches this place. The powerful Western nation of Tolmekia aims to re-establish human dominance, planning to unify the surrounding countries and then launch a total attack on the insect species. On the other hand, the ancient monster "Ohmu," which once led to the destruction of humanity a thousand years ago, reappears in the world.
