In the ordinary life of the young man Takuro Mukai (voiced by Hiroshi Kamiya), fishing is his greatest passion. He often goes alone to the riverside with his fishing gear, enjoying the happiness and freedom his hobby brings him. By chance, Takuro manages to catch a strange mermaid named Muromi (voiced by Yuka-Tamura), who is cheerful, lively, and enthusiastic, but her somewhat clueless personality is quite worrying. Thus begins the wonderful relationship between Takuro and Muromi. At the same time, Muromi's friends make their appearances: the mature and composed Sumida (voiced by Saki Ogasawara), who yearns to love humans; the vegetarian Kobiki (voiced by Ai Nonaka), who can be friends with anyone; and Fuji (voiced by Hitomi Harada), who is attractive yet completely oblivious to it, with her eyes only on Muromi.
