The story takes place during the One Year War, parallel to the story of the original Gundam. Young Federation officer Shiro Amada, assigned to the Earth front, encounters the enemy, a female pilot from the Zeon forces named Aina Sahalin, during an accidental skirmish. This pair of young individuals who harbor goodwill for each other are forced to fight because they belong to opposing sides, struggling to maintain their feelings during the war. Meanwhile, Shiro and the members of the 08th MS Team he leads gradually develop friendship and trust through continuous battles.
