The story takes place in 2015 in Tachikawa City, Tokyo, where advanced network technology has made mobile phones and social networks an indispensable part of people's lives. At the same time, a network vulnerability known as "MESS" often causes unexpected troubles for users. To cope with the chaos caused by MESS, a special operations team called "Gatchaman" was formed, consisting of individuals with special abilities.
