Due to the inability to support her family, the stepmother sent Sophie and her two sisters to work as apprentices at a hat shop. The two sisters quickly left the hat shop in pursuit of their own dreams, but Sophie persevered. One day, a moving castle appeared near the town, and it was said that its master, Howl, devoured the souls of young girls, causing the town's girls to keep their distance. A wicked witch, seeking revenge for Sophie meeting Howl, used magic to turn her into an 80-year-old woman, and Sophie cannot tell anyone about the curse affecting her. Helpless, Sophie decides to escape the town alone. As night falls, a weary Sophie doesn't wander far before arriving at the moving castle.
