The beautiful Belladonna is robbed of her purity by the lord on her wedding day. Her husband is left without comfort after her return in a frail state. Belladonna's sorrowful body calls upon a demon that offers her solace. Soon, war breaks out, and the able-bodied men of the town go off to battle with the lord. After her husband's collapse, Belladonna uses her mysterious powers to maintain the supply of the castle, attracting the jealousy of the lord's wife, and ultimately, she is imprisoned. A large black demon arrives, taking Belladonna away and unleashing a plague upon the vast land. Belladonna uses her unique ability to save the people, but the lord once again harms her... This film is produced by Osamu Tezuka's "Mushi Production" and is the most modern-style work among the adult animated films released by the studio around the 1970s, having been an official competition entry at the 1973 Berlin Film Festival. The film's score is composed by Yoshihiro Saito, one of the key figures of the Japanese free jazz movement in the 1970s.
