Although suffering from a heart condition, the boy Shō (voiced by Ryunosuke Kamiki) still receives little care from his parents. To prepare for his upcoming surgery, Shō goes to his great-aunt's house (voiced by Keiko Takashita) in the remote countryside for some rest. The great-aunt's house is situated in a tranquil forest and is an old European-style villa with a history of over a hundred years. Besides the great-aunt and the maid Haru (voiced by Kirin Kiki), there is a peculiar family of three, the "Borrowers"—the little person Arrietty (voiced by Mirai Shida), her father (voiced by Tomoya Miura), and her mother (voiced by Shinobu Otake). They live under the floor of the villa, only a few centimeters tall, leading a life unnoticed by humans. When they need daily supplies, they sneak into the kitchen at night to borrow them. Shō accidentally catches a glimpse of Arrietty, and although he wishes to approach these legendary little people, he unknowingly disrupts their lives... This film is adapted from the original work "The Borrowers" by British author Mary Norton and won the Best Animated Feature Award at the 2011 Japan Academy Awards.
