15-year-old Izumi Mitsuki (voiced by Saori Hayami) has lived deep in the Kumano Kodo, at Mount Tamakura, since childhood. She is reserved and not good at socializing, and possesses a unique ability that disrupts electronic devices around her. As she approaches high school, Mitsuki begins to develop feelings for others and quietly trims her bangs, unaware of the immeasurable impact this will have. She was originally set to attend a high school in Tokyo, but respecting her wishes, her guardian Yukimasa Sagakure (voiced by Jun Fukuyama) arranges for his son, Shingo (voiced by Kohei Uchiyama), to transfer to Tamakura Kuriya Middle School to take on the responsibility of protecting Mitsuki. It turns out that Mitsuki, as a "Bonri," has a mysterious power sealed within her that is linked to the Himegami, causing various malevolent entities to target her. Initially incompatible, the boy and girl come to understand each other after the panic of a school trip to Tokyo. Under Shingo's protection, they will face numerous challenges… This film is adapted from a novel by Noriko Ogiwara.
