The story takes place at Muroe High School, where the kendo club's advisor, Ishida Torao (voiced by Konishi Katsuyuki), lives a laid-back life, coasting through each day. To him, kendo, a sport that should be full of excitement, is just a playground for a group of kids. A turning point changes Ishida's life; to win a year’s worth of free sushi as a bet, he decides to get serious and work hard to win the kendo club's major competition. To regroup, he must open his doors to recruit talent. There’s the short but justice-filled Kawazoe Tamaki (voiced by Hirohashi Ryou); the cheerful and passionate Chiba Kirino (voiced by Toyoguchi Megumi); the seemingly delinquent yet actually a rich girl Miyazaki Mutsuki (voiced by Kuwashima Houko); and the somewhat reckless ghost club member Kuwahara Sayaka (voiced by Kojima Sachiko). Through working hard alongside these girls, Ishida gradually develops a love for the sport of kendo.
