What truly shapes the real you? The movie focuses on Joe Gardner (voiced by Jamie Foxx), a middle school music teacher who gets the opportunity of a lifetime—to play at the best jazz club in New York. But a small misstep takes him from the streets of New York to a fantastical place known as "The Great Before." There, souls are trained, gaining their personalities and interests before heading to Earth. Determined to return to life on Earth, Joe meets a precocious soul named "22" (voiced by Tina Fey), who has yet to find her interest in human life. As Joe tries to show 22 the wonders of life, he will also come to understand some of life's ultimate questions.
